Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 3 pattern challenge, ISEA-U creates a potentially spooky tangle.
Created by fellow CZT Dory Peeters, this tangle combines eyeballs and mummies! It will definitely appear in future Halloween-themed classes! ISEA-U offers options for embellishments – those stripes can hold all kinds of small patterns. Embellishments could help ease the spooky-factor if you aren’t into that.
Today’s Tangle
When I started Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 3, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with ISEA-U. I liked the idea of the pattern and loved its quirkiness. I had some idea of maybe incorporating a variation of PURK into the tangle, but I wasn’t sure. So I did what I always do when I have no idea where to go – I just started tangling and let the piece tell me what it needed! In the end, a few FLUX fronds and a bunch of PURK rounded out this trippy little tangle. I spent extra time with shading the piece to create extra dimension.

7F5R (Seven Forests Five Rivers) host a Zentangle version of Inktober every year called Inktober Tangles. Check out their Facebook group to find more information and to see the amazing art created by Zentangle teachers and artists from around the world. Each day, we are given a Zentangle pattern and are asked to create something with it. Some artists create beautiful frameworks to blend the various tangles together into one piece of art. I wish I was that organized! I create a card for each day – it gives me the freedom to change up mediums I use, but it also means I don’t have to prep anything ahead of time!
