Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 11 – BRAVENSWORD

Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 11 created a challenge for me, but not with drawing the pattern.

Inktober Tangle Day 11 Bravensword

BRAVENSWORD, created by Debbie New, CZT, is a fun little shape that looks almost like a Treble Clef. The pattern lends itself to a variety of embellishments. If you thicken the ribbon pieces, you can include orbs or little stripes inside of them. The circles that root the pattern can hold more than just a dot.

I enjoyed learning this pattern. It was relatively easy to draw and I like all the options. My challenge came when it was time to figure out what to do with it. This isn’t a pattern that I typically gravitate towards, so I wasn’t sure how I wanted to include it in a tangle. I ended up putting it in a swirl of DIVA DANCE and adding color with chalk pastel pencils. I don’t believe that I unlocked the secret of this pattern for me, but I am happy with how it turned out. I love the ripple-effect of DIVA DANCE in the background.
