Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 17 handed me a kooky, fun favorite pattern of mine!
I adore LOLLYWIMPLE by Sandy Hunter, CZT. It is a weird (in a good way) pattern that reminds me of a strange sea creature when it’s completed – kind looks like a tardigrade. I stumbled across this pattern earlier this year as I was researching patterns for a lesson plan and have been playing with it since. I knew that I wanted to keep this day’s tangle primarily focused on it and not add much else.
Today’s Tangle
I filled my tile with LOLLYWIMPLE and rounded out my tangle with MSSST. I opted to play up the underwater sea creature aspect of this pattern. I want to go back and re-do this card in color. I like it in black and white, but I believe adding color to those orbs would take this tangle over the top.
Patterns like LOLLYWIMPLE don’t need much to make them sing. Those aura’d arcs around the bubbles create plenty of drama on their own. Careful shading to create highlights and lowlights give the pattern a 3D effect.
