Zentangle Inktober Tangles Day 20 created a fun, dramatic tangle.
WALK THE LINE by Chris Titus, CZT makes an interesting border, but is versatile enough to stand on its own. The weighted lines add drama and motion. This pattern was new to me, but I suspect it will make its way into future creations. I love the final effect of a ripped paper edge.
Today’s Tangle
This design ended up being almost a monotangle. I added a little DOO-DAH in to change up the line structure a little bit. In hindsight, I don’t think it was necessary, but I also don’t hate the result! WALK THE LINE creates a busy, complicated design, but it’s rather easy to draw. I loved how forgiving it was – the tall, skinny humps can be made uniform, but if you’re not good at uniformity, that’s ok too. Adding the weighted lines along the tips and sides of the humps allows you to adjust lines and smooth things out. More importantly, that weight adds drama to the tangle!
While this tangle creates a lovely border, I see many other uses for it. In the above tangle, the borders are oversized, so I didn’t need to put anything between them. I look forward to stacking them and adding shading along the top edges of each layer. In my minds eye, I can see the 3D effect that should create. Stay tuned – this on my list for a future experiment!
