Echoes of the Wanderer

Echoes of the Wanderer Instrumental Song

Echoes of the Wanderer

My latest instrumental, Echoes of the Wanderer, mixes traditional instrumentation with foley sounds for percussion and synths. An ambient underlayment supports an Oud, Flutes, and Singing Bowls (which I really messed with!). While I have always played with combining traditional sounds with weird stuff, I usually try to not to get too weird. This time, I let the song take me where it wanted to and I love the results.

Much of the percussion came from Output Arcade which is my favorite toy software instrument in my toolkit. Arcade allows you to play a loop and mess around with it in real time. When I use Arcade, I start with a “messed up” loop that I created in the instrument and then do even more with it in my DAW. I love to use (legal) samples and loops in my compositions, but I always want to make sure they don’t sound like the original and that I’ve taken them to a point that it would be hard for someone else to replicate. That way, if someone else is using the same loop, our songs won’t sound alike. Arcade makes this process even easier.

Echoes of the Wanderer will live on my Mystical Journeys album with Summit Whispers, Skyward Journey, and Celestial Swirls. Stay tuned because I will be releasing the next song for this album in two weeks!

Check out my other arrangements and compositions. My library grows every month and now has a variety of styles. Besides world fusion instrumentals, it features electronic music, pop, and a few arrangements of old hymns and carols.
