Package, Payment & Cancellation Information

Drop In & Initial Fit Lesson

Payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations can be made right up to the lesson time. Students have 365 days to reschedule or forfeit their payment.

Class Punchcards

Payment for the class punchcard is due at the time purchase and is non-refundable. Punchcards expire 6 months from the day of purchase. Unused lessons will be forfeited. Lessons may be cancelled/rescheduled right up to the lesson time through the studio web portal.

Note that the studio calendar shows three months worth of available time slots at a time. Unless otherwise arranged with the studio, students can book up to three months of lessons at a time. An exception to this can be made for students purchasing class packs for regularly scheduled bi-weekly lessons.

If a student requires a different level of lessons and/or other services, the punch card can be converted to a custom retainer-style engagement. It cannot be converted to tuition.

Tuition Packages

At the time of purchase, students are assigned a weekly day and time for lesson. Each semester contains Bonus Days. The Bonus Days are scheduled for the end of session can be used as make-ups for lessons. Bonus Days can also be rescheduled to earlier in the semester to double lessons. If the student does not cancel or reschedule their Bonus Days during the tuition session, these days are bonus lessons.

If a student needs to cancel (right up to their lesson time), they are welcome to try to reschedule their lesson instead of waiting for a bonus day. If a student cancels more lessons than they have bonus days, the additional lessons are forfeited and not made up.

Tuition may be paid in full at the time of sign up or monthy. If the monthly option is selected, half of the tuition is due at sign up. The balance will be divided by the number of months in the session. The monthly payment is due on the first of the month. Payments are considered late if not received by the 2nd lesson of the month and will be subject to a $25 late fee. Payments that are more than 30 days late may result in the loss of the student’s time slot until they are caught up.

Additional lessons and services outside of the scheduled weekly lesson will be charged at a 20% discount off the current drop-in rate. Payment will be due at the time of booking. If a student requires additional lessons and/or other services, the tuition package can be converted to a custom retainer-style engagement.

Students may withdraw from the studio at anytime. Unused lessons are non-refundable.

Custom Retainer-Style Engagements

Custom packages start at $960/month. Packages include up to 6 meetings/coachings/lessons a month and additional services (such as arranging, research, outside coaching for specific needs, accompanists, or production work). Retainers require a 3 month minimum engagement.

After the initial three months, the engagement will be billed monthly on the 1st. Payments will be considered late if not made by the 15th of the month. Payments more than 30 days late may result in the the suspension of the retainer until the payment is caught up.

Cancellations & No Shows

Students who miss their lesson with no notification are considered no-shows. If a student misses 3 lessons without notification, the student will lose their time slot with no refund. Students should make every effort to be on time for their lesson. If they are more than 10 minutes late without notifying the studio, the Zoom session will be shut down and the student will be considered a no show.

Exceptions are made for emergencies. Conflicts with other interests, activities or appointments are not considered emergencies.

Air & Ink Studio makes every effort not to cancel lessons. If Air & Ink does need to cancel, lessons will be rescheduled. For tuition students, if a mutually agreeable time is not available, the cancellation will be made up during the Bonus Days. If that’s not possible, a refund will be issued. For punch card students, if the lesson cannot be rescheduled before the punch card expires, the expiration will be extended by 30 days. If a reschedule still isn’t possible, a refund will be issued for the lesson. How cancellations are handled in a custom package will be determined when the package is developed.

At the time of sign-up, students are granted access to the Air & Ink Studio calendar. Students will be expected to manage their cancellations and reschedules through the calendar.

Technical Considerations & Materials

Private Lessons

When you book your initial fit lesson, I will provide a detailed document with the bare minimum technical requirements. In general, though, you will need:

  • (Preferred) The Farplay.io app. This app is free to download for students. In order to get the best experience, you will need headphones that plug into your computer, a microphone (can be built into the headphones), and a direct link to your router. This page provides set-up information.
  • A device (computer, tablet, or phone) that can use Original Sound via Zoom. All Apple, Windows, and Android products are capable of this setting. Chromebooks are not and cannot be used for voice lessons. An external microphone, headphones, and a direct link to your router are preferred, but not a requirement. If your sessions include an online accompanist or any specialist coaching, you will need Farplay.io installed.
  • A working camera. These can be built into your device or external.
  • A separate device to play your backing tracks. You will be required to play the backing tracks for your songs. These are typically mp3s or YouTube karaoke videos. These must be played on a separate device from your lesson device.
Group Class Materials

Each class listing will specify the necessary materials for the class. Unless stated otherwise in the class listing, students are expected to procure the necessary materials. Art classes typically include a preferred list materials and acceptable alternatives, but if a student cannot find something on the list, they are encouraged to contact Air & Ink Studio for assistance.

Recordings

Private Lessons

Recordings can be made via Farplay.io or Zoom.

Group Art & Music Classes

Classes will be recorded using Zoom. Unless otherwise stated, recordings will be made available to attendees for 7 days after the conclusion of class.
